Swim Lessons Descriptions:
Parent & Child
Designed for children between the ages of 9 months and 3 years, and their parents/adults. The purpose of the course is to familiarize children with the water and teach swimming readiness skills. In addition, the class provides safety information for parents and teaches parents techniques they can use to help orient their children to the water. This class is about being wet and having fun! (Parents/adults will be in the water with the child). Swim diapers are required for those not fully toilet trained.
Manatee Calf (ages 3, 4, 5)
This class focuses on beginning swimming skills such as water adjustment, breath control, submersion, front and back floating, kicking and arm strokes. An emphasis is placed on teaching the student to float and move independently in the water. Children should be mature enough to be without a parent for 30 minutes. Five, 30 minute classes per session.
Otter Pup (ages 3, 4, 5)
This class focuses on beginning swimming skills such as submersion, front and back floating, kicking and arm strokes. An emphasis is placed on teaching the student to swim 20 yards in order to graduate to the next level. Five, 30 minute classes per session.
Manatee (ages 6-14)
This class focuses on beginning swimming skills such as water adjustment, breath control, submersion, front and back floating, kicking and arm strokes. An emphasis is placed on teaching the student to float and move independently in the water. Five, 40 minute classes per session.
Otter (ages 6-14)
This class focuses on beginning swimming skills such as submersion, front and back floating, kicking and arm strokes. An emphasis is placed on teaching the student to swim 20 yards in order to graduate to the next level. Five, 40 minute classes per session.
Seal (ages 6-14)
This class focuses on intermediate swimming skills such as freestyle with side breathing and backstroke. An emphasis is placed on building strength and endurance in order to swim two lengths of the pool and graduate to the Advanced Level. Five, 40-minute classes per session.
Dolphin (ages 6-14)
This affordable and fun program is designed to develop intermediate to advanced recreation swimming ability and water safety skills. All sessions include skill development, as well as strength and endurance building. Select sessions include personal water safety, boating safety, water polo, introduction to competitive swimming, and a mock swim meet at the end of the session. Students must be able to swim at least 25 yards of crawl stroke and 25 yards of backstroke. A screening test is required.
